Aiken Equestrian Events

Aiken has an extremely active equestrian community with over 40 polo fields, a spring and fall steeplechase, trail riding in the Hitchcock Woods, Thoroughbred racing, foxhunting and more.

Do you foxhunt?  One of the highlights of the Hunt season is Hunt Week, generally scheduled for the second week in February, complete with annual Hunt Ball, gourmet breakfasts, tailgates and cocktail parties, which all contribute to a festive celebration of horse and hound.  Check out the following hunt groups in the Aiken area: Aiken HoundsWhiskey Road Fox Hounds, and other hunts nearby.
 

The Hitchcock Woods

Donated to the city of Aiken by the Hitchcok family in 1939, the Hitchcock Woods, 2100 acres of hiking and riding trails, is one of the largest urban forests in the nation.
